Dear parents and visitors

Welcome to our website. Harston and Newton Primary School is situated at the centre of the village of Harston and has been serving the local community since it was opened in 1877. The school has expanded over the years and now has seven classrooms, a pre-school, its own outdoor swimming pool and an extensive playing field.

Harston and Newton is a small, but growing, school with a focus on mutual support and respect - a school in which everyone is valued, takes care of each other and strives to do their best.

Our aim is to give each child the opportunity to discover their own strengths and talents, to enjoy their school journey and prepare for the future. At Harston and Newton special attention is paid to teaching the basic skills of reading, writing and maths, while encouraging each child to become a confident and independent member of an ever-changing society. We endeavour to teach these basic skills in an exciting way, as well as finding time to focus on creative and physical skills and ensure that learning is fun.

If you are searching for a school for your child, I hope I will have the opportunity to meet you in the near future. If your child should join us, he or she will have a long and very happy association with the school. We are committed to working in partnership with parents; our wish is that you should feel fully involved in your child’s education and in the life of the school.

Yours sincerely
